Do you have computers available for public use?
Yes. The library supports print-enabled networked public computers that contain a variety of productivity software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, publishing) and provide fast, free internet access to email and other web-based resources to users for up to one hour daily.
Do you have genealogical information?
Yes. In addition to our own Local History and Local Authors collections, the library houses collections of Bisbee High School yearbooks dating back to 1916 and Bisbee business directories and phone books dating from 1904. The Cochise County Library District's online catalog also provides countywide access to books and other materials related to genealogy.
In cooperation with the Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, the library also provides electronic access to Evergreen Cemetery records and, in cooperation with the University of Arizona, provides a link to UA's Bisbee Deportation 1917 web exhibit, including deportee lists.
Finally, as a public library partner of the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, the Copper Queen Library provides further access to genealogical materials through AzSLAPR's Genealogy Collection, the Arizona Biographical Database, the Historical Photograph Collection, and the Arizona Memory Project.
Where can I find information about upcoming library events?
The library maintains an interactive events calendar that lists upcoming library programs and events. Events are also listed on the city's local government Channel 5, are included in the Bisbee Visitors' Center monthly calendar, are publicized in the Bisbee Review/Sierra Vista Herald and on local radio station KBRP-FM, and are announced on posters and brochures displayed in the library and throughout the city.
For your planning convenience, regularly-scheduled events include the Friends' Monday Night "Did You Know...?" Docu-mentary Film Series (screenings at 5:30pm); preschool and bilingual story hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am); Teen-Only! Nite (Fridays from 7-11pm); and lectures and book discussions sponsored by the Arizona Humanities Council, the City of Bisbee, and the Friends of the Copper Queen Library (Wednesdays at 6:30).
